10k: Who wants more than that!

The day I entered in the hostel it was beginning of a new era in my life. A new place, new people and new enviroment posed lot of challenges as well as instilled a lot of excitement in me. Being a 17 year old I had new ideas and lots of dreams to accomplish which I still have.
But as the time went on the excitement has died, the ideas have been have been blown away and the dreams gone due to combination of the whole lot of factors.

The past fortnight has been the worst time I have faced in my life till now atleast what I can remember. The hot n humid weather coupled with the frequent power cuts have made my life worse to worst. The cooler which everybody bought doesnt even give respite when the magnitude of the heat is of such a higher order as it is in gwalior. The water problem along with the food in the mess increases our worries. And to make the conditiions unberable there a hordes of insects in room during the night to disturb whatsoever sleep we get. Under these kind of things only god knows how can one motivate ourselves to study.

Even a 10k a month salary wud be fine considering the fact that we have been living in these conditions for 5 years. I guess most of us have now are comfortable with drinking impure water, non tasty food, hot weather conditions so what justifies our need for a bigger pay package. In times such as these absence of bad conditions makes us delighted. Did we came to this place for all this? Are we comfortble with these things?

I dont want to be here, want these two years to end as quickly as possible and hope the place where i go is better than this. But nothing can be worse than this place so no need to worry!!!!!!

Hope you also feel the same....

90 minutes of life

A football coach one said that the game of football is much more than a matter of life and death. Sure it is, the game depicts life with the enthusiasm and vibrancy it generates off the pitch on the contrary the agony and distress of the defeated symbolises death. Football illustrates the basic principal life of survival of the fittest with the weak being laid to rest. Watching the game for ninety minutes is a experience in itself.

The zeal and enthusiasm for which the individuals play for their country, the temperament and talent that these players depict on the field is worth being inspired from. The players put their bodies heart and soul for the country they are playing for inorder to win. Sure all these players earn a lot of money and fame but it requires loads of hardwork and training. The strategic thinking and stress handling makes them our role models. The ecstacy depicted by the players, fans and the team management after scoring a goal shows the happiness and the passion the game generates and on the contrary the opposite team are distraught. The scale of the stadiums, training centers, transport facilities, security that goes behind holding a tournament of the scale of world cup is worth admiring. The world-class transport, telecommunications, tourism and sporting infrastructure, the people are the pre-requisites that make a world cup successful. So a lot of pre tournament preparation and hardwork is required not only from the players but by the hosts as well. Due to all of this excitement, uncertainities and hysteria "the beautiful game" is no doubt the most watched sport, with the world cup being the worlds biggest event with its fan following all over the world being enormous. The passion with which the people follow the game makes the host country the center of the world for those four weeks.

Football just like life has had share of mysteris as to how German purposefulness,Brazilian artistry have proved almost equally effective, while English passion and fanaticism has only brought home the trophy once. The Spanish flair and dazzle has never brought home the trophy inspite of its league being regarded as the best in the world. The hand of god and the goal that won england the world cup remain controversial and puzzle fans still.

This game is all things to all people. It reduces us to tears, laughter, elation, anger, pride. Why it even reduces me to writing this nonsense without fear of embarrassment as I know people would think this is all rubbish, atleast a lot of indians will being cricket fans. I like cricket but the excitement this game generates for me doesnt match cricket. Football is the greatest thing in the history of the world ever.

In the end lets hope that when its all over at 9 July may the best team win as long as its ENGLAND!!!!

Essence of life

Anyone who reads newspapers which I guess most of us do would have came to know the decision that Narayan Murthy and Bill Gates have taken recently regarding thier prolific careers. Both of them are icons and represent the examples of most sucessful persons that the world has ever seen. Narayan Murthy and Bill Gates both started with just with absolutely nothing in hand except a conviction in their heart and devotion to work. They had an idea which they with the help of able compatriates implemented to perfection and now the world knows where they are today.

Both of them have decided to step down from the companies they started and have represented for a long time. Their name has become synonymous with these companies and their decision of leaving these companies highest posts leaves a gap which can never be filled . Narayan Murthy the Chief executive, Infosys cites the reasons for his decision being that as per the companys policies he would need to retire as he turns 60. Hes a person who is the epitome example of the saying "simple living and high thinking". Narayan very famously once said that the real power of money is the power to give it away. He after the retirement would now have time to concentrate on the Infosys foundation that his wife runs.

Similarly Bill Gates also cited that after stepping down as the Chief Software Architect at Microsoft he would work for Bill Melinda Gates Foundation and he also said that since god has gifted me the power of wealth I ll use that power to empower the people.

Doesnt one realise the similarity in these persons thinking that inspite of being so sucessful in life, the ultimate essence of life lies in giving back to society what you have recieved from it. They inspire the whole world for the deeds that they have accomplished so hopefully, atleast some of us would do something so that the world can improve. Most of us aim to be rich, successful and just keep running after money and fame but after a while these things dont enthuse us anymore. The feeling of helping somebody just because god has given you the power to do something for him delights us then. This according to me is the essence of life would leads everybody to self actualisation and the sooner one realises this fact the better it is.
Good bye.

Kashmir-God creates Man destroys

Its a common observed fact that whosoever goes to Kashmir realises that how the maxim of god being the creator, maintainer and destroyer has become obsolete now. It was god who created this valley but some bloody group of people have not spared any chance to destroy it. Kashmir is cradled in the lap of majestic mountains of the Himalayas, and is the most beautiful place on earth or atleast was a decade back. On visiting the Valley of Kashmir, Jehangir, one of the Mughal emperors, is said to have exclaimed: "If there is paradise anywhere on earth, it is here it is here, it is here."

But now the paradise has been turned into hell. Kashmir has a myth and history, , art and architecture, culture and tradition, and rituals that are distinct, yet similar to the civilization of the Indian subcontinent.

But during the 1990s with the emergence of the Islamic fundamentalists in Kashmir, the whole scenery has changed. And now the birdsong and murmur of gentle streams of yesteryears is replaced by the misery of physical and psychic violence instigated by the terrorists. People there are fearful and the Hindus are not at all able to live there now. The kashmiris want to part away from India but have no idea where do they want to go. The are equally critical of formation of a new state or joining Pakistan. Every year there is hullabaloo about the decrease in insurgency but these terrorist incidents come to haunt us time and again.

Most people know what factors led to upsurge in the militancy in the region but what people dont know is how has it been able to sustain itself for such a long time. Most of people earlier drew similarity from the Punjab militancy thinking that it will die its own death after 10 years but that didnot happen.

The reasons are aplenty the foremost being that noone wants it to end as the people who live in these areas are not at all affected by it. There is selective killing there with only non-muslims being killed. The muslims because of it recieve special treatment and take away all the jobs in the state and moreover being a militant informer pays them well. The mufti government implemented the 'healing touch' policy by giving a house and a job who would surrender. So the militant organisation gave away redundant guns to the people who then posed as militants wanting to surrender and walked away with a well built house and a job. In kashmir if you handover a grenade and Rs.500 to a teenager he would go and throw it at any place so why would the people want it to end.If anything offers you money and jobs as well as special treatment everybody would want it to go on till eternity. Moreover the Indian Army has not been given full powers and the local police helps the intruders getaway from captivation. The Indian government continues placating kashmiri people in the hope that they will stop supporting the so callled jehadis but that hasnt happened for these 16 years.

But most of the people are suffering and the persons benefitting from it are a very small group of people. But the irony is that noone can do anything except talk about it as the people making the decisions are asleep atleast in my books and the paradise is burning.
